Be a Sister to Every Girl Scout – Vi’s Petal Ideas
The tenth and final trait in the Girl Scout Law, be a sister to every girl scout. Moreover, this is a fun way to branch out from your own troop. The girls can reach out to other girls in their service unit, council, state, country or across the world. What a great way to learn more about others. This is Vi’s story and is the light purple petal. We dive into how to earn the Daisy petal be a sister to every girl scout. Our agenda below follows the Daisy petal requirements to make earning this petal easy and quick.
Daisy Petal Be a Sister to Every Girl Scout Activities
Our sample agenda below is packed with ideas to help Girl Scout leaders when planning their Daisy meeting on Vi’s petal – be a sister to every Girl Scout. While planning for this petal, take a peek at the next badge or journey you plan to work towards with your troop. Why? This allows you to provide your scouts some choices so that you can keep your Daisy Girl Scout meetings girl-led.
You’ll find some tips on Daisy Girl Scout journeys in Rosie’s petal, just be sure to scroll down to the Girl Scout leader tips. Additionally, we include some useful tips for getting girls outdoors and planning trips in Gerri’s petal. Furthermore, we include lots of ideas for extending your year in our Girl Scout Leader tips.
Feel free to view our collection of ideas for Daisy Girl Scout meetings. And if you are getting close to bridging, definitely head over to our Bridging to Brownies post. In addition, Gloria’s petal guide includes some helpful tips for bridging as well. Head on over to grab our Brownie Girl Scout survey to help you plan out your Brownie year. The survey lets your girls pick which badges, journeys, and trips they would like to try for the year.
Gathering Activity
Our last and final flower coloring page. Our girls were able to start the meeting and chat while coloring. Meanwhile, we could work with the parents and set up the activities. An independent few moments at the start of the meeting is so important to give you time to take care of other Girl Scout business.
If you are getting ready for bridging, you may want to start preparing your parents. Most Daisy Girl Scout families have no idea what actually goes into bridging in Girl Scouts. You will want to explain the requirements, share your thoughts on the ceremony and of course, ask for volunteers. A lot of work goes into a Girl Scout bridging ceremony so the more help you can get, the better.
Vi’s Story Girl Scouts
This is a fun story about receiving postcards from friends from around the world. Also, learning how people do similar and different things. This is a great time to have a world map and show the girls where the postcards came from. In addition, you can talk a little bit about the different countries and their language or traditions. Be sure to point out just how similar people are even if we live in different countries.
Step 2: Create a mural about girls around the world with your Daisy friends
This is a great time to have each girl research a different country where Girl Scouts or Girl Guides are active. For example, they could bring in a picture of a girl scout in uniform, the flag, and an important place and maybe even find out the language or currency. Also, include a world map on your mural and have the girls decorate with their pictures and facts near their country on the map.
On another note, you could create a mural of your Daisy year(s) to share with others. The girls could write out the various petals and events. Then, add pictures or drawings to show their year in Girl Scouts. Additionally, if you are a little more technological, you could create a scrapbook of their year. Further, create a photo slideshow to share with other girls from around the world.
Daisy Petal Be a Sister to Every Girl Scout Ideas
- Take turns sharing things that you love about your Daisy friends.
- Invite a new friend to join your troop.
- Meet with another girl scout group from your area to share something you love and learn something from them. (This is great for second year or Bridging Daisies moving to Brownies).
- Find a pen pal from a different city, state, or country to share about your girl scout journey. This could be a great way to get some information for your mural in step 2 also! Be sure to make SWAPs to share with them too! Check out our Pen Pal Kit too.
- If any area has a natural disaster or other tragedy, send aid to the local Girl Scout service unit or council. For example, send positive postcards or letters, making donations of food, clothing, school supplies, or even taking a trip to help where you can.
- Participate in a Girl Scout recruiting event to help other girls to join Girl Scouts in your area.
- Have a Girl Scout campfire with girls from other troops to share songs, stories, SWAPs, and smores.
- Ask your service unit if there are any Girl Scout families that might need a little support around the holidays. Put together a meal for Thanksgiving, gather presents around the winter holidays, or put together a summer fun kit.
- Make a YouTube video of your girls singing their favorite Girl Scout songs to share with other troops, with parent permission of course.
- Invite a new Daisy troop leader to join your meeting and talk to the scouts about their year to help the new leaders begin their journey in scouting.
Ending the Daisy Girl Scout Be a Sister to Every Girl Scout Meeting
We continued with our ending activities of a Vi page with 3 lines to write on. However, we did change this one a little by asking the girls to write 3 things they loved about girl scouts this year. Each daisy would earn their light purple petal after completing the activity to be a sister to every scout instead of waiting to share three ways they were a sister to another girl scout.
Our Daisy Girl Scouts and their parents were so excited to see the completed Daisy flower on their Girl Scout’s vest. Further, we even had our girls hold up their last petal in place to grab a quick picture. All their hard work, easy to see right then. Plus, the girls couldn’t wait to go home and sew on the last one.
Girl Scout Leader Tips
For our tips today, we are going to discuss what to do after you earned all the Daisy petals but still have more time as a Daisy Girl Scout.
Finished the Petals – Now What?
First, congratulations on sticky out your Girl Scout leader journey! You’ve made a huge commitment and completed something fundamental for your scouts. Through your hard work and dedication, you’ve built a Girl Scout family. You have wonderful girls and families who are so thankful for you!
Second, by helping your scouts to earn all their Girl Scout Daisy petals, you have laid the groundwork for Girl Scouts. You’ve taught them the Girl Scout promise and Girl Scout Law. Even dove deep into each of the pieces of the Girl Scout Law. But you’ve done so much more! You’ve also helped your girls build leadership skills, passion, and purpose. But where do we go now? Well, there are many different paths and each one is correct.
Daisy Leaves
There are 4 Daisy leaves you can introduce to your Daisy Girl Scouts. Most of these can be completed in just one meeting, but you can always spread them out over multiple meetings too. Additionally, we love to pair the daisy leaves around our Girl Scout selling seasons. For example, try to earn one or two with fall product and the other set with cookies. On the other hand, you could earn one each selling season too since most girls are a Daisy Girl Scout for 2 years. Talk it Up and Count it Up are specific to cookies, but you could easily change it to fall product too.
- Daisy Talk It Up Badge – Decide how to use your cookie money and share with your customers
- Count It Up Daisy Badge – learn about Girl Scout cookies and set a sales goal
- Daisy Money Counts Badge -learn all about different kinds of money
- Making Choices Daisy Badge – explore wants vs needs and goal setting
Girl Scout Journeys
You can divide into the world of Girl Scout journeys. These are usually multiple meeting experiences ending with a take action project. However, they can take as long or as little time as you need. Want to spend 10 meetings on one journey, you sure can. Need to complete a journey in a day, that’s possible too. Although, the take action project might need a little extra time, but possible.
There are 7 different journeys your troop can choose from and each one is pretty awesome. Be sure to get your girls and parents involved in the planning because you’ll need everyone invested to make this work. Take Action projects take lots of volunteers!
Journeys are also a great way to help girls make up petals that they missed or help new scouts catch up. We love adding in a few focus petals into each journey not only to remind the girls of the Girl Scout Law but to help other scouts earn the petals.

Below are the 4 Daisy Girl Scout journeys that pair nicely with specific Daisy Girl Scout petals. Of course, other petals can be added to any of the journeys, you’ll just need to do a little more adding to fit them in. The below petals fit in well with the required awards of the journey.
