Welcome! We are Butterflies!

Dear Readers,

We are a family of 6! Within our family are 4 happy, independent children with an 8 year span between the oldest and the youngest. Dad is a firefighter and helicopter medic while my background is in education. I have taught everything from the youngest learners to middle school to special education and even future teachers. While my background is in both elementary and special education, I also specialized in math instruction, reading and writing, as well as working with English language learners and child development.

Our Commitment to You

Our mission is to provide practical solutions to real-life parenting problems. Let us help you build your parenting strategies toolkit for more stress-free and joyous time with your kids.

We are a busy family with so much going on that it feels like there is never a down moment.  Those few precious nights when we have nothing going on is downtime that we treasure! We hope that our blog helps provide you some guidance in the wonderful world of parenting so that you too may guide your little caterpillars into independent butterflies.

Here at Creating Butterflies we explore everything that is best practice parenting from the research, while being budget conscious. We are a dual language family so you might learn a little Spanish along the way. We love scouting, being the leader in both our oldest children Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts groups. Through scouting, we enjoy camping and exploring the great outdoors. Hopefully our journey can help you plan some unforgettable moments for your family too!

Our Children

Our four children are amazing individuals with their own personalities. We work diligently to help our children to transform from perfect little caterpillars to independent and beautiful butterflies.

Evelyn, our oldest, is the most gentle, sweet girl. She shines when she is singing, dancing, and enjoying crafts. Curiosity and learn new things bring her joy. Not only is Evelyn a Girl Scout (from Daisies to Brownies and now Juniors), but she dances and plays softball.

Owen is our second oldest son. He is an active boy who still enjoys a cuddle. He loves a game of catch, anything outdoors and being tickled! Most especially, he knows how to turn on the charm when he needs. Owen loves soccer, basketball, and baseball.

Aaron is our third child. He is curious about the world and where it will take him. He loves to be chased and use his imagination for play. Plus, he brings the volume to our world with his loud words and creative stories. Aaron has begun soccer and t-ball. We will see where his passions lie.

Ivy is our darling little princess. She knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to demand it. She loves toys and enjoys making things move, shake, rattle, and roll. Ivy loves a good snuggle, to be held, and especially to go upside down.
